$5,000 – Media, PA:

“Due to changes in my life I am selling my AW11 MR2. Price is negotiable but is within reason given the capabilities, condition, and rarity of the vehicle. I will not negotiate the price over email. You will come see the car and give a lower offer if you feel it is genuinely worth less than I’m asking. I am not highly motivated to sell so be prepared to defend your offer or have it turned down. Feel free to request more info if the description does not answer your questions.

Details:

The car is very fun to drive and is the fastest, best handling car I have driven and built. Aside from being fast in a straight line it is also capable of nearly 1.2g’s of cornering force on the Hankook RS-4’s currently on the car. In the right hands it is a very capable track and autocross toy. The suspension is stiff but not brutal and rides about as well as cars like the STI, and Focus ST. The exhaust is very aggressive and the turbo intake and blow of valve noise also lends to the feeling of driving a mid engine terror. Since owning the car (2 years now) it has not been driven in winter.

Condition:

Mechanically the car is in reasonable shape for it’s age. The engine and transmission are great though the S54 is a little older and the synchros are slow for shifting and complain when shifted at a drag strip/life or death pace. The engine has been trouble free since the swap was completed and has about 3k miles on it. Mostly highway miles for a trip to the Tail of the Dragon and to Autocross events in DC and South Jersey. The biggest issue with the car is the body and paint. The paint is terrible and there is some exterior trim which could use replacement or TLC. There are some rust issues on this car but nothing that has affected the rigidity or road worthiness of the frame. That being said there should be repairs done to the front passenger side floor panel and the T-top seals should be changed (these are around 100 dollars per side).

Here is a list of known issues Some which will be fixed as time goes along.

1. Right wheel bearing needs to be changed. I have the part and will fix it if no one buys it before I get the chance to put it in. If you buy it before hand I will give you the knuckle to replace the one on the car.
2. Passenger side engine mount requires some repair. The mount is holding and is not expected to break however it is bent as a result of an issue with the front engine mount that has been fixed. The mount will be repaired soon after the wheel bearing is fixed or I will give a small credit for you to have it fixed by a fabricator.
3. The heater controls are not linked to the blend door or the Control valve. They must be actuated manually to turn heat on or off.
4. T-Tops leak lightly. Drivers side on top of the driver and on the passenger side on the A Pillar onto the passenger floor.
5. The Windshield washer and rear defroster do not work.
6. The passenger carpet is missing a clip to attach it to the center console.
7. The intercooler is in a position where it either needs a fan or to be changed to an Air to Water system. I planned on doing the latter but am selling the car.
8. The speedometer has not worked since the swap. It could be as easy as my speedo cable end being worn out or an issue with the speedogear in the trans. I have a replacement speedo cable have not tried yet but may do so soon (i will obviously include it if bought before then.)
9. The Rear trunk was cut out to prevent the spread of rust to the subframe and into the chassis.
10. Rear tires are worn out due to too much toe-in. “
