$9,000 – Houston, TX:
“One of a kind build that has been a lot of fun for me, but time to move on to other projects.
The basics:
Car has been taken down to the shell and built back up as an autocross/track car. Antique tags, working headlights, wipers, brake lights, so is still street legal and I drive it to the events. Most everything has less than 2k miles since the build. Clear TX title.
1994 Mustang 5.0 V8 and T-5 manual trans. Both rebuilt before installation. Engine converted to 600 cfm Edlebrock and electronic distributor for simplicity and reliability. E303 cam, roller rockers, ported heads, headers, race mufflers, circle track radiator with 2 electric fans. Loud, mean and fun.
Kaplhenke adjustable coilovers with Eibach springs front and rear. Adjustable Koni Race shocks all around. 28MM front sway bar, all new poly bushings, quick-steer steering arms, new steering rack, camber plates. 17×9″ wheels with 255/45 RE71R autocross tires with plenty of tread left. Front brakes are Hawk HPS pads and rear are EBC. Rear axle is a 1999 mustang GT 8.8” with 3.27 gears and limited slip diff. Also have the stock Volvo Dana 30 rear axle with 3.73 gears and Eaton Tru-trac (fresh rebuild) available, though I felt the gearing was too low for autocross. Flares are actually 240z ZG style made in fiberglass by a guy out in Cali.
Interior is gutted with aluminum panels to replace the stock door panels, dash, floor, rear seat, etc. Race switch/fuse panel. Kirkey aluminum seats – drivers is adjustable and passengers is fixed. 12 gallon fuel cell and electric fuel pump, battery in the trunk with remote power shut off. Windows & regulators still present, so windows can be closed.
Overall, car really needs nothing to be at the track this weekend. Could use new windshield, just haven’t gotten around to it ($200). Turns lots of heads, surprises lots of people and always draws a crowd at events. Fun car.
Why a Volvo, why not an old Mustang you ask? These cars are simple and logical like an american car, but are 10x better built, modern suspension, stiff shells, great rustproofing and crash worthiness. You’d have to add alot of reinforcement & weight to an old american car to get a chassis as stiff. This car weighs about 2700 lbs, not as much as most think.
$9k complete or $4000 as a roller (I keep engine and trans). These cars will fit just about any engine – SBC, SBF, LS, turbo 4 or V6 with ease. Lots of possibilities!
Reply via email and I will respond very quickly. Thanks.
Would consider trade or partial trade + cash for small boat.
