$1,000 – Lexington, KY:
“I have decided to sell my 1990 240SX hatch. This is very much a project car. It mostly runs and drives, but will need a lot of work to complete. It has the potential to be a wonderful weekend toy (road racing, drifting, back road driving, you name it), but I’ve run out of motivation to finish it. I’m offering this car up in a few ways. Right now, it can move, but I intend to start stripping some things off of it in the coming weeks. Here is what I’ve got:
-The car is a 1990 S13 240SX hatchback. Chassis is beat up, but there is very little rust (just a single hole in the passenger frame rail that has been treated. Still needs to be filled. Hole is about the size of a raisin). There is also some damage to the driver’s door and driver’s side rear fender. Floor pans are in great shape as are the subframes. Paint is in terrible shape. Was originally red but the body is no black. Clear coat is flaking off in many places. Rear seat has been removed and a roll bar has been welded in. Not sure who did the work, but it’s solid (it is unpainted and has some surface rust). The interior aside from the door panels and head liner has been stripped. I have most of it, but a lot of it is broken and not worth reinstalling. Front end is from a JDM Silvia. It is currently off to make working on the engine easier.
-Motor is an SR20DET redtop. Engine was rebuilt before being installed, though the oil pan leaks a bit. Alternator also ticks from sitting so long. Has a GT28RS (Disco Potato) turbo installed. Turbo only has a couple hundred miles on it. Breathes through a GReddy intercooler kit with GReddy Type-S BOV. NISMO 555cc injectors and a brand new Walboro fuel pump fuel this motor. Boost is currently at stock levels, but this setup is ready for a lot more. ECU has been modified with a Nismotronic daughterboard for easy DIY tuning. GReddy underdrive pulleys prevent water pump problems and add a bit of power. No A/C. Engine harness is an original Nissan harness that’s been professionally modified to fit the LHD body. Radiator is an unknown brand and is actually for an S14, but it works well. I have an electric fan for this radiator but it doesn’t pull enough air to keep this thing cool on a hot day when sitting. Was planning to upgrade the fans and add a Circuit Sports fan controller (I have the controller, but not the fans). Not sure who makes the tubular exhaust manifold either, but it’s old enough to not be a crappy eBay one. This motor just needs a Z32 MAF (which I have and will include) and a tune can make 300 hp easily. I have it running, but it does not always start. I know the starter motor is bad and I have a feeling it is not turning the engine over long enough to catch before the solenoid conks out. Once it does fire, it idles and revs nicely. Will update if I figure this out.
-Transmission is a standard 5-speed. It’s been 3 years since I really drove this car, and if memory serves 2nd is a bit crunchy. Clutch is an Exedy 6-puck and has <1000 miles on it. Stock open diff in the back. -Suspension is a mixed bag right now. Currently, the car has Apex-I coilovers all around, as well as Godspeed control arms. I have Godspeed swaybars and Circuit Sports end links too, but have yet to install them. The front has a 5-lug swap from an S14. The lower control arms are from an S13 with a brand new S14 ball joint pressed in, as well as brand new Energy Suspension bushings. Tie rods are brand new Circuit Sports parts. I have the rear 5-lug swap, but the passenger side axle nut is jammed on so I haven't been able to swap those yet. All hubs have brand new ARP studs with Skunk 2 aluminum lug nuts. The studs and nuts are actually M12x1.5 (OEM is 12x1.25). I will include 300ZX wheels with the car. You will NOT be getting the black wheels (they're from a Mazdaspeed 3 and fit horribly). The alignment is 100% eyeballed, but there's a lot of good parts in there. -Brakes are from an R32 GT-R all around and have a 300ZX master cylinder. Brake lines are from a GT-R too and really need to be swapped to stainless braided conversion lines. Parking brake cables need to be hooked up. These brakes are the best part of this car. I have a seal kit for the front calipers. They don't leak, but they are used and should probably be rebuilt. Pads have life in them but should be replaced soon (300ZX pads work in these brakes). -Along with what's on the car, I also have a NISMO 2-way LSD in a pumpkin. I have an entire chassis harness to replace the original, which is quite frankly butchered and is the source of a lot of this car's problems. I also have 7 or 8 totes of spare parts that can go with the car: old injectors, spare motor parts, all sorts of odds and ends I've collected over the years. I also have a nearly complete SR20 swap: it includes a transmission, ECU, and engine harness. The engine is in pieces and will need new pistons, rods, and bearings, as well as a turbo. I also have another spare transmission that has a bad input shaft bearing (this was the trans that was in the car when I bought it. Had it swapped out when I replaced the clutch). Here is how I am planning to offer it: As-is: $3000 (runs sometimes, can drive short distances, no front end, two stock seats. I will include the rear hubs and wheels for a 5-lug swap too) Rolling chassis with stock suspension: $1000 (no motor, no trans, 4-lug suspension) Roller with modified suspension: $2000 (no motor, no trans, has tubular control arms, coilovers, 5-lug swap with 300ZX wheels) You can also purchase the following to go with the car: Silvia front end: $500 NISMO LSD in pumpkin: $700 5-lug swap (with wheels & tires): $500 Boxes of spares: $300 Spare SR swap: $1000 The whole enchilada: $5000 If you're serious about this car it will have to be towed. I can deliver if needed for a price. You will definitely not want to drive this thing home. Not only does it not start regularly, but it's moved maybe 20 miles under its own power since 2012. I've had this car for 10 years. I wanted to make it my dream car, but I was 18 and stupid and bought myself a nightmare project. I spent all of my college years hoarding parts to make it what I wanted, but with age comes the wisdom that I'm never going to get it all done. I don't have the time to finish this thing and I just want a car I can drive and enjoy. There is someone out there who can finish this car off and have a ton of fun with it. That person just isn't me. Prices are all negotiable to a point. Photos are from various points in time, from oldest to newest. Calls, emails, or text are all fine, but I work full-time so I can't always answer. Only trades I'm interested in are a Suzuki Cappuccino or a Samurai. I'm not parting it out yet or selling the spares piecemeal until the car itself is sold. I know this is a long post, but there's a lot to cover. Thanks for reading and happy hunting! === 1990 Nissan 240SX condition: fair cylinders: 4 cylinders drive: rwd fuel: gas paint color: black title status: clean transmission: manual type: hatchback "
