$2,000 – Shrewsbury, MA:
“*Pending Sale*
Selling a 2003 Dodge SRT4 $2000 or any remotely reasonable offer. This belonged to my uncle and was given to me when he no longer drove it any more, but we already had other newer cars. It has been sitting in our drive way for a few years waiting to be a project that I never had the time nor the care to really start. I have the signed title, never registered after gifting as it needed work.
This definitely isn’t a turnkey car. Things I know it needs:
* Battery – current battery is completely dead, car won’t crank, no amount of charging is going to bring it back. Probably from sitting, but could be more than that, alternator, etc.
* Brakes – The brakes need to be replaced, they are rusted all over from sitting so long. Needs pads, rotors, fluid, and at least one caliper rebuilt. Last time I had it checked out at least one of the caliper pistons was seized and needed a rebuild – I wouldn’t be surprised if more did as well.
* Oil drain bolt – Whoever my uncle took the car to destroyed the oil drain bolt, shredded. Would likely need to be drilled out and replaced.
* K-frame is quite rusty. Probably would want to pull it and replace it.
* Old gas – it’s been sitting with old gas, probably want to clean everything out.
* Intake – It’s got an old intake, dirty, from early in the SRT mod scene and the tube is cracked and was taped over. Could use replacement.
* Head – I was told at one point a spark plug was threaded incorrectly and had a coil inserted to address. Was told things were fine after that. Should be reviewed, but may not be an issue.
* Timing belt / Water pump – Should be replaced. Originals to my knowledge. Then there is all the usual from sitting, and who knows what else:
* Tires – only had ~6k miles before sitting, but have been sitting for several years, should definitely replace.
* Fluids – everything should be replaced. Probably a lot of rubber components should be looked at as well.
* Dirty – it’s been sitting. Pics were when first considering selling – reconsidered and then it sat, should probably grab newer pics or clean it. Nothing physically is changed, but it’s been in the elements and needs scrubbing.
* Old suspension, bushings, etc.
* Cracked rear wheel plastic liner.
* Bolts everywhere seemed rusty and could be replaced for anything you are changing out. Saw the drain bolt, and other bolts and procrastinated dealing with it.There’s probably more. I’m not a mechanic. Definitely would need to go to the right person who knows how to deal with fixing everything.
Modifications: Other than the air intake mentioned above, the only known modification seems to be a Mopar blow off plate. Seems pretty rare to still find mostly unmolested ones, but it definitely needs its share of work.
Will need to be towed, no exceptions. Even if you come with a brand new battery and it starts up, it should be towed with the state of the brakes. Sold as-is with no warranty, implied or otherwise. Will not pass inspection as-is. This is a project car, don’t waste my time thinking it isn’t. Name a price, get a tow truck, and take it away. Will not get it towed for you, no delivery, etc. Will send to a scrapper if there is no interest, the wife wants it out of the driveway.
Send me an email with any questions. We can schedule time for a call / visit as necessary – I don’t have time to deal with phone calls all day when at work.
