$7,000 – Saint Clair Shores, MI:

“Im selling my 71 Torino because i’ve lost interest in it and i have other projects to fund, my lost – your gain. This particular Torino is rare because Ford only made this body style for two years, so you just don’t see these cars. Ive owned this Torino for at least 5 years now and over time i’ve done a ton of work to it (which i will list below). It originally had a small block 302 in it but was swapped for the current 429 and no, I don’t have the original 302. I preferably would like to sell it straight up for cash, however i would consider trading for a clean 1987-93 Foxbody Mustang or a 1999-04 Mustang GT, Mach 1, and or N/A Cobra (both of which must be a manual transmission).

Specs:

Engine: Ford 385 series, 429 big block
Transmission: Ford C6 3-speed automatic
Axle: Ford 9-inch thats 3.50:1 with a limited slip
Chassis: Welded Subframe connectors

NOTABLE things that i’ve replaced and or added:

Brakes:
-Remanufactured brake calipers
-OEM front brake hoses
-Slotted rotors
-Hawk brake pads
-OEM wheel bearings
-OEM brake shoes
-OEM drum brake hardware kit

Power Steering
-Remanufactured control valve
-Remanufactured pump
-OEM High and Low pressure lines

Engine:
-Ford D0VE iron heads with 11:1 compression
-Edelbrock performer intake
-Edelbrock 600cfm carburetor
-Msd street fire wires
-NGK plugs
-Trickflow air cleaner

Wheels:
-Staggered BF Goodrich Radial T/A’s (I don’t remember the tire sizes are at the moment)
-Aero Race wheels

Suspension:
-KYB gas shocks
-OEM lower control arms
-OEM lower ball joints
-OEM outer tie rods
-Rear traction bars

And i’m sure theres a bunch of stuff i’m forgetting. Regardless, now ill list some of the cons…

-This car will need paint! It has surface rust and bondo bubbles, but for the most part is solid as a rock. The worst spot of rust is the size of a nickel on the edge of the trunk. And the floor boards ARE solid.
-I believe it has a bad ground somewhere on the passenger side of the car, the running lights on that side are very dim.
-The Transmission takes a few seconds to go into gear when cold, due to the solenoids sticking. This is very common on c6’s and once the car is warm it shifts fine.
-The car is also missing miscellaneous trim pieces and weather stripping
-The rear end clutch pack could benefit from being re-stacked, when doing a brake torque the limited slip cant figure out what wheel it wants to spin. So because of this, it just does MAD KILLER one wheel peels!

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a car to restore and trailer to shows THIS IS NOT THE CAR FOR YOU. But this car would make a killer street/drag car, weekend cruiser, and or father-son project.
