“For those who know Saabs, this is the sport coupe with the gigantic rear hatch that swallows huge items and lots of them. It can carry far more material than my mid-sized wagon. In our possession since 2014. Most of the mileage has been via trips to and from LA. 88,750 currently. Red with black leather. No cracks or tears in leather. A/C is surprisingly icy. Fully operational sliding/tilting electric moon roof with manual screen.
All records since acquisition indicate standard maintenance and conscientious upkeep. The car has received the following upgrades since 2014. Just detailed.
*New tires 18 months ago
*New alternator, battery, clutch cable, headliner, brakes and rotors, replaced head gasket.
*New Pioneer quad sound with 6×9 speakers in rear and 8” door speakers in front. CD, Bluetooth.Headlamp wipers do not function. Nor does rear window sprayer. Wipers and front sprayer are fine. I replaced the headliner with new light colored material to brighten up the interior last year.
In full disclosure, some oil smoke periodically shows up but the Saab specialist who has been responsible for this car has been through the whole thing and has eliminated all known suspects including leaking gaskets, rings, turbo — all functioning well. All of this is documented. His words – “Just drive the car. There is nothing terribly wrong”. Prudent advise.
So – a reliable cult classic with the fun charm that you’ve already experienced if you’ve owned a Saab is available with very limited mileage and at a fair price.
Make me an offer after seeing the car and we’ll see what happens. If you would be satisfied with a 22 year old civic or golf, this isn’t necessarily for you unless you’re ready for a vehicle with more personality and thoughtful ergonomics. For more of an automotive treat, this is for you.
