“I’m having to sell my 1988 Alfa Romeo Milano Verde. This is a great driver car in very good condition.
I’ve owned it for 25 years and kept it garaged in Colorado for nearly all of that time. It shows very little rust – a few blisters on the left and right lower edge of the trunk lid.
I’m asking $8,000. Hagerty lists the average value at $9,800. I’m only selling because it’s one too many cars for the retirement community I’m moving into.
It has 160,000 miles and has had synthetic oil changed every 3,000 miles.
Mechanically, the car is in great shape and runs great. The clutch was replaced less than 20,000 miles ago and the timing belt has been replaced three times over the 100,000+ miles I’ve had it. The catalytic converter was replaced within the past 5,000 miles and it passes Colorado emissions testing with no problem. Emission testing records available.
The balky ABS has been replaced with a standard brake cylinder and new pedal box and now the brakes work great.
Wheels are Alfa original alloy fitted with Yokohama 195/55-15’s in good condition.
The interior is excellent. The front Recaro seats have been reupholstered and look like new. The rear seats are original and show minimal wear. Absolutely no fabric tears or broken seams. The hard-to-reach stereo has been replaced by a Nakamichi with wireless remote control and removable face.
The car isn’t perfect: it has the factory sun roof, but I haven’t opened it in years. The A/C isn’t currently working. It was re-painted the original anthracite color 12 or 14 years ago and is in very good shape, with a few chips. The idiot lights work most of the time, but when one sensor trips on, some of the other lights come on and off. The tach is not very accurate. One of the fog-lamp lenses is broken. And, like most of the Alfas I’ve owned, it takes warming up the transmission for the second-gear synchro to mesh smoothly.
This is a great Colorado mountain performance car and my favorite of all the Alfas I’ve owned since my first Giulia Super bought off the showroom floor. I’m looking for a buyer who will drive it and appreciate it as I have.
