“It’s time for me to part with my friend of 28 years – a box-stock flint black metallic Honda CRX Si. The car was my daily driver for 25 years, but now that I’ve retired it only gets driven around town and rarely over 45 mph (when new it would do 115+). I simply don’t put enough miles on it in a year – since 2016 it’s averaged 350 miles a year. Now that it has lost its spot in the garage, it really needs to find a new home.
The CRX Si was purchased new from Valley Imports (now Valley Honda, Aurora, IL) on 19th January 1991. It has its original Moroney label, purchase paperwork and sales brochures, plus copies of Road & Track articles from the day (’87-’95). The car was rustproofed (Ziebart) that March with follow-up inspections the following four years. The rocker panels have been periodically oiled to forestall the inevitable, but the right wheel arches are now showing signs of rust. There is a small tear in the front seat and the radio needs a little attention (sometimes the right speaker drops out, and jiggling the rear connector brings it back). The A/C lost its refrigerant last year and what that really means is a conversion to modern refrigerant is needed should one wish the A/C to cool (me, I rarely used the A/C). Everything else works as it should.
A well-used shop manual and three books about the marque are included. Numerous OEM parts come with car, including Honda floor mats, pedal pads and shift boot, a spark plug wire set, battery hold-down brackets and grounding cable, brake pads/boots/bolts/hoses, fuel filter lines, wiper blade refills, oil & air filters, valve cover gaskets, radiator caps, and a boat-load of OEM fasteners . The vehicle was meticulously maintained; dealer-serviced for the first 10 years, and mostly owner-serviced thereafter. A spreadsheet that documents maintenance since 2000 is available, as well as the Carfax report.
