$2,000 – Fithian, IL:

“I’ve got a 2003 GTI that I’m putting up for as a parts car for a short while to see if I can keep it on the road and giving someone a good time. If nobody shows interest it’s getting dismantled completely and parted out, but it’s a lot of fun and I’ve put a lot of my time into it so if I can keep it all together and going that’d be awesome. It runs and drives fine, but I was hit in the front end at the parking lot at work a few years ago and it was enough to total it with a header panel, bumper, radiator, hood, paint, yada, yada, yada. I replaced all the parts and never got the hood or bumper repainted. I was a Mercedes technician for a couple years and have been tinkering with cars for quite a while so have a little faith in that. Other than that it’s a parts/toy car because it’s got no catalytic converter on a 2.5 inch exhaust, an EGR block and the SAI, N249, PCV, and Evap removal. The good new is it’s got the k04 turbo and a forge intercooler and turbo inlet, cold air intake,APR diverter valve, oil catch can, with an APR chip with easily changeable programs for 89,91,93, and race octane fuel. I replaced all the front end parts with an ecs tuning kit including the control arms(with polyurethane bushings), inner and outer tie rods, sway bars, and ball joints. It has a rear strut bar that goes across the hatch area behind the rear seats. The headlights have glass lenses. It does run and drive fine, but under full throttle I’m getting some sputter which is either due to the cat having been removed or the spark being blown out which would be fixed by replacing the coil packs with the fitment kit for mk5 coils. That being said you could drive it across the country at 30 miles a gallon and make it there, you just can’t have as much fun at those red lights and on ramps right now. It will need tires as I swapped out my good rims and tires for another vehicle which is the main reason I cant invest the time to keep this thing going. I recently got a WRX and can’t invest in both vehicles, but can’t get over how much I enjoy the AWD. I’ve had this GTI for 7 years and put in two motors myself as well as two valve jobs, one within the last year (installed all timing components and put on a blue gates kevar racing belt). I’m not gonna sugarcoat anything. It’s seen better days, but it’s seen a lot of states and jumped a lot of heart rates.

I’ve got a little bit of wiggle room on the price as this is more to save the vehicle from parting everything out over time, but this would be a ready to race car for someone with a little work or enough to build up a different vehicle the same direction. I’ve put to much in to let it go for scrap prices so I’d rather put more of my time in getting some value back tearing it completely apart.

I’ve also got another whole GTI I’ve already dismantled over time working on this one. I’ve got A LOT of other parts I can throw in to clear some room or we can work out a deal depending on what it is. This includes the set of ECS tuning wheel spacers for the front and back with lugs that I had on the other set of rims.
