$3,500 – Troutdale, OR:

“I’ve owned this car for almost 4 years and it seriously pains me to consider selling my old school Subaru but life happens and needs are more important than wants. Our 2009 Forester needs a new engine and is the more sensible vehicle to have.

The turbo engine in this body style was only made in 1983 and 1984 and are getting more and more rare and increasingly harder to find. I’ve tried looking for others all over craigslist and I can’t find a single one for sale. If you do please let me know!

Details:

119K original miles and the condition shows it
Originally it was a 3spd automatic push button 4WD, but I installed a 4spd manual hi/lo 4WD transmission. The clutch that went in only had 1K miles on it. Transmission and clutch all work great, no grinds and shifts smoothly. The dual range lo worked excellent last winter and got me through some snow that the hi range couldn’t.

Parts I’ve replaced:

Last month I installed new brakes,
rotors and hardware all the way around. In the recent past I’ve replaced both front axles, spark plugs, thermostat, cap and rotor, newer battery, fuel filter, air filter, I also recently had some solder joints repaired on the ECU. I think that’s about it.

Includes the rare rear cargo cover
Has A/C but needs to be recharged
Cruise control
Interior in very good condition, front seats have a couple tears and wear spots just from age and use. Rear seats look amazing.
Exterior is pretty good. Only a couple little dings. No real rust issues that I know of.
Comes with spare tire
I’ve only used Mobil 1 full synthetic oil
All lights and controls work as they should

The only issues I know of are the windshield has a crack but it’s not in the view of the driver and when I first bought the car I only drove 3 miles to work, and that’s IF I drove this car. Normally I drove my ’93 Legacy and kept this parked in my driveway. The radiator has a small leak that isn’t bad and is very easy to keep up on. It’s never overheated. It only started with our recent hot weather. I might put a little water in like once maybe twice a week just to keep it topped off. It doesn’t leak while driving but once it’s parked it may or may not drip some. There’s a small vibration up front when you get up to around 70MPH. This started after I rotated the tires. The tags are expired because I swapped the Legacy plates with good tags onto this car and then when these were coming due I never got the DMV slip so they lapsed without me realizing it but it passed just fine when I put the plates on a year ago and will pass now.

I think that’s about it. It starts every time in hot or cold weather. It doesn’t smoke or use oil. It’s never left me stranded. Engine sounds good and runs strong. We’ve driven it to Hood River, Camas and all over with zero issues.

Call or text with any questions or if you’d like to come see it.
