$6,000 – Fort Worth, TX:

“Due to some personal issues I am forced to part with this car. It is an extremely rare vehicle, a 1966 cadilac superior archtop . You may never see another of these.

The good: It has a running 429 engine in it with 25,000 miles. No smoke, no leaks, carb is a bit testy. It has a mechanical table in working condition. All lights work in and out. I drove it two weeks ago and it was fine. The engine has many new parts. Alternator, starter, radiator, gas tank, have been gone through, new master cylinder. Red lights work also.

The bad: typical body rust, floor pans, I put wood and carpet over them and drove it fine that way. The moron mechanic who worked on it two years ago did not bolt the rear end down and it came loose. It now has a rear end off an 89 suburban and that simply means it shifts twice as it should but the rear end only goes up to partial rear end speed. I drove it across town last year at 65 and it did fine.

There is some frame work redone in the back so the fender skirts go on funky but they are fine also and I will throw in another set that matches from another caddy.

I love this car, have had it for thirteen years, clear title. I have been told it is worth ten thousand, but I feel better asking this price because it will of course need work. I say this because people have offered to buy it and ask me “how much is the rock bottom you’d take for it?” Don’t insult me. I also was offered three thousand because it’s “jist an old hearse.” No, it is a very rare model that someone with some cash and tools could turn into an incredible showpiece. No trades, I don’t want your family van, and no checks. Cash. Yeah, scary, but I don’t want to give this car away, if you follow me. The tires on it are crap, it needs a trailer to carry it. One other thing: I want this car to go to someone who is going to make it back into a beautiful car. If you just are some teen kid who wants a “shaggin waggin” and to make a low rider out of it, I wont sign it over to you. Wowsers, seriously? Yes. I sold a beautiful hearse to someone once and they destroyed it and I felt terrible. Old cars and guitars are my passion. This ca is a piece of history and deserves better.
