$BID – Tucson, AZ:
“this Patrol runs and drives really well for its age..
Id say it really needs nothing to be a daily, but keep in
mind its not a restored vehicle and about 50 yrs old.
Its been pretty well cared for over the yrs and not really
used all that much. Because of the tow bar attachments and
knowing its history a little, my guess is it was towed behind
a motorhome much of its life. Hop in, pump the gas a little,
turn the key, hit the push button switch and it fires up and
idles nice. The trans is a 3 spd gear box and obviously a 4×4.
Its fun to drive, has excellent power and actually rides way
better then I expected…. more belowDRIVETRAIN: factory 6 cyl matted to a 3 spd gearbox and all the
cool 4x drivetrain you could want. Reliable, responsive and classic.
Manual hubs up front, brakes and clutch feel great. Under hard accel
I noticed a little smoke, but its very marginal and only under hard
throttle. No weird noises or smells coming from the rig, and no over
heating etc.INTERIOR: take a look at the pics. Very original the best I can
tell. Sparse interior, but more comfortable then I expected.
Last owner added 3 gauges, no harm, they all work. Not sure I
like the placement of the one by the shifter, the first few times
I put it into Reverse, I smacked my fingers. But now I know how to
do it w/o that happening. Speedo cable prob needs lubrication, it
bounces mostly, and works occasionally, I may try to lube it this
week. Blinkers present, but not working (flasher unit maybe)
Glass looks to be all good, a bit dirty.
Rear top comes off for that convertible truck look and outdoors
feeling, but doubt its ever been off. (check out all the pics and if
you have any questions, please ask)
Odometer shows aprox 69k and it could be original easily.EXTERIOR: the body pretty straight for its age, but this is a 95%
rust FREE survivor. Windows roll up and down, The doors work
Rust or rot I should say is almost non existent on the body.
Much nicer by comparison to a truck this old from the eastcoast.
I pretty sure the orignal color was offwhite and the AZ sun has
given it a nice patina. Im pretty sure the red you see coming thru
in spots is the original red oxide primer. Roof has surface rust only.
I thought about wet sanding it off, but I dont have a ladder 🙂SUSPENSION: the suspension looks normal from what I can see
not sure if its been lifted or if the shackles are original.
New shocks up front. Very well designed for everyday driving
and offroad use as well. The BFG tires have good tread, but they
are probably 5 yrs old. Id still drive on them no problem.
This truck was just driven recently on a 50+ road trip in Az
with no issues.Minimal rust under the car, making taking this car apart, almost a breeze !! “
