$4,500 – Pembroke, MA:
“More of a “porch find”. And not quite a “find”, since we knew it was there. The most famous of the VW “kit car” craze of the seventies, this vehicle was complete and in running condition when it was parked more than 30 years ago. Collectors! In addition, the car comes with pamphlets, brochures, assembly manuals and additional paraphernalia.
The car needs a good cleaning, some TLC, a battery and right rear tire shredded, but is complete with a few spare parts. Assembled on a 1962 VW frame, it has an 1800 cc VW engine (?), Mallory dual point distributor and pacer header/muffler. Back in the day, it gave us about 60 MPG, sounded like a race car and was a LOT of fun to drive.
If you’ve been looking for one of these cars, or have ever even thought about it as a possibility, you should grab it before we lose our storage. Jay Leno has one of these in his garage, so … bring your trailer. Price posted is the “buy it now” price on E-bay – join the bidding and you may buy it for a bit less…or not. Thanks for reading!
