With that being said…
As the title states I’m selling my 84 GLI. I don’t want to sell it but the space it’s taking up needs used to store my new truck. I absolutely LOVE this thing. But unfortunately the reality is that I have too many vehicles and this one has to go and my heart will be heavy when it does. Anyways…
5 speed. Runs good 120k on chassis 80k on drivetrain. 16 valve out of a MK2 Scirocco. I drove it all the way from Newport Rhode Island. The car is mechanically sound. Get in and go with no issues. Cluster is in kilometers per hour. Surprisingly I only went through 2 tanks of gas driving back from Rhode Island. 10 hours 1 way not a single hickup!
The good:
-New Sony Head unit and 6×9 rear speakers
-Aero catch hood pins
-Brand new BC racing BR series coilovers, fully adjustable height, camber and dampening.
-15” SSR Professor 2 piece welded staggered wheels
-Brand new Achilles 165/45 tires
-New 12.5mm wheel spacers up front
-New 15mm wheel spacers in the back
-Doesn’t burn oil whatsoever.
-Grip Royal Steering wheel.
-Euro Headlights
-Euro small bumpers
-Replaced cracked tail lights with perfect ones.
-Sourced a ton of interior that was missing when I bought the car. For the most part all it needs is a headliner.
-Re-applied all of the factory pin striping to the best of my ability. It’s not perfect but I think it made the car look so much better.
Sourced and re-textured a full set of factory fender flares. They look brand new now and also make the car look great.
-All windows and seals are good.
-I have alot of extra bits I’ve accumulated that will come with the car such as;
Miscellaneous interior bits
Factory Radiator fan.
Dual round headlights and grill set
Dual square american spec headlights and grill set.
-Rare Zender front spoiler. Very hard to come by.
-I have a Rear trunk spoiler for it as well as sideskirts that I haven’t installed yet due to the cold weather that will come with the car as well.The Bad:
-NO HVAC blower works but dumps to passenger floor. Not fixing this.
-Temp gauge reads high but pyrometer states car doesn’t even come close to overheating. This is due to the miscommunication between mk1 gauges and mk2 scirocco 16 valve swap.
-Pinch welds under the rockers are a little worse for wear. (The sideskirts mentioned above will completely hide/cover this flaw.)
-No trunk upholstery
-It’s not perfect. Has miscellaneous dings/scratches/dents. It’s 33 years old.The bare essentials in this car are all there also. No cracks in any of the glass. All the seals are good.
